Planning

Planning involves the creation of a comprehensive plan with goals, objectives, and strategies aimed at meeting the substance abuse prevention needs of the community. During this phase, organizations select logic models and evidence-based policies and programs. They also determine costs and resources needed for effective implementation.

Tools: There are several tools that can be used during the planning phase.
Prevention Platform: This provides access to a wealth of online resources including access to the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) database, CAPT databases, and program information from other Federal agencies.

Prevention Pathways: A wide array of information and resources including funding information from private and corporate foundations as well as government agencies; links to CAPT’s which promote best practices, skill development, community practice policies; and PrevTech which connects organizations to programs and practices that can be adapted and localized.
Developing Logic Models and Strategic Plans: The following resources help with developing a logic model and creating strategic plans.
